After making a stunning advance of 27 places in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and remaining as the best Indian University, IIT Delhi is further endearing its position as a leader in higher education. These new courses emphasise the flexibility of the institute, inclusivity, and readiness to meet future needs, to both conventional students and working adults. “IIT Delhi’s new courses are a testament to India’s readiness for the future. Interdisciplinary learning is the way forward for global competitiveness.”posted by Dr. K. Kasturirangan, Former Chairman, NEP Drafting Committee on X.

Highlights of the 2025 course expansion

  • BTech in Design is a new unique undergraduate program offered by the Department of Design. It combines both industrial and communication and interaction design with engineering making students ready to bring user-centric innovation everywhere. Interestingly, it is not JEE Advanced but UCEED through which the course is admitted since the course is creative in nature.
  • The 4-year BS in Chemistry gives a good foundation to those who look forward to pursuing careers in research, healthcare or pharmaceuticals. Among these future plans, programs are planned to be based on JEE Advanced and are designed in the various ways these programs will focus on a balance between theory and practical research.
  • The Continuing Education Programme (CEP) at IIT Delhi has recently inaugurated short term and skill based certificate courses i.e. Finance for Non-Finance Professionals and Supply Chain Management. Priced at 1.5 lakh each, these six-month programs are developed to combine theory and practice and cover both graduates as well as mid-career professionals.
  • By introducing a Certificate in Semiconductor Technology and Manufacturing, IIT Delhi is tackling head-on the Indian demand of skilled personnel in the chip design, fabrication and VLSI arena. This scheme plays a crucial role in the drive of India towards electronics self sufficiency.
  • The new campus in Abu Dhabi is the first international venture by IIT Delhi which will provide the programmes of MTech and PhD in the fields of sustainable technology, energy systems and data science. Students with good academic background and authentic GATE or GATE equivalent grades can apply to these global programs.
  • 2025-2026 academic reforms can add interdisciplinary AI, healthcare technology, and humanities and skills-based minors to give students the freedom to pick their academic advisories and acquire cross-domain practical experiences.
