What is the number of vacancies available?

SAIL is offering 85 vacancies for the position of Attendant cum Technician Trainee (Grade S-1) in the Bokaro steel plant. These vacancies are distributed among different categories as follows:

  • Unreserved (UR): 35
  • Other Backward Caste (OBC): 10
  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 10
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 22
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 8

What are the eligibility criteria for the SAIL recruitment 2023?

In terms of joining SAIL candidates should have a minimum qualification of Matriculation and have completed apprenticeship training of at least one year in a designated trade from an integrated steel plant. They should also possess a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by the National Council for Vocational Training.

The upper age limit for candidates is 28 years as of 1 May 2023. While candidates will get some age relaxation based on their categories.

  • 5 years for SC/ST category candidates
  • 3 years for OBC (Non-creamy layer) category candidates
  • Additional 10 years for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
  • Ex-servicemen (ESM) are eligible for age relaxation based on their military service.

What is the selection process?

The selection procedure for the position of Attendant cum Technician Trainee includes two stages. Eligible candidates will undergo an objective-type Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of multiple-choice questions. The minimum qualifying marks for unreserved /EWS will be based on a 50 percentile score, while for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates will be a 40 percentile score.

Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be shortlisted for the Skill/Trade Test in a 1:3 ratio category-wise. The skill test is of a qualifying nature and will be communicated to candidates through the SAIL website.
