GPT-5

The world has changed since November 2022, when OpenAI debuted its fantastic AI chatbot ChatGPT. ChatGPT is the global leader in AI technology, both in popularity and use case, so much so that it has sparked an AI arms race among major tech firms. ChatGPT has undergone several versions and is now powered by OpenAI's most capable large language model, GPT-4. While GPT-4 has brought some fantastic skills to the forefront, the world has been waiting for its next edition, GPT-5, with bated breath. Until today, little was known about GPT-5. However, CEO Sam Altman appears to have recently thrown hints about OpenAI's next significant jump.

GPT-5 is still under development: Know its Potential

Although GPT-5 is still under development, OpenAI has given some preliminary information regarding its Potential. The model is believed to include 1.56 trillion parameters, much larger than GPT-4's 175 billion. GPT-5 can learn and absorb more information, resulting in more accurate and nuanced results.

OpenAI believes GPT-5 is better at understanding and responding to context. This means the model can consider the surrounding text when creating text, resulting in more natural and cohesive outcomes. GPT-5 is predicted to have numerous uses. GPT-5 can improve NLP's machine translation, text summarization, and question-answering. GPT-5 can also generate creative text formats such as poems, code, screenplays, musical compositions, email, letters, etc. GPT-5 can also create new AI applications such as chatbots and virtual assistants.

Altman has stated that OpenAI is actively developing GPT-5.

Altman has stated that OpenAI is actively developing GPT-5 and may even have "superintelligence." Altman indicated that he expects to raise funds from Microsoft for the company's goal of developing Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). According to the CEO, who spoke to the Financial Times, the relationship between OpenAI and Microsoft is going well.

GPT-5: Release Date

According to the report, Altman is presently focusing on two areas: a study into how to construct superintelligence and ways to increase processing capacity to achieve this. "The vision is to create AGI, figure out how to make it safe... and figure out the benefits," he was cited in the publication as adding. Although Altman could not provide a specific date for GPT-5, he did state that it will require more data to train on. According to Altman, this data will be derived from a 'mix of publicly available data sets on the internet, as well as proprietary data from companies.' GPT-5 will be more complex than its predecessors. On the other hand, Altman stated that it is difficult to forecast what new skills will drive the new model.

It should be mentioned that developing an AI model like ChatGPT requires billions of dollars and massive quantities of processing power. This is because the data has been trained on billions and trillions of pages of data and has undergone substantial fine-tuning.
