While consumers eagerly await the Jio DTH launch, which is bound to happen next week, a particular phishing scam has been reported. According to a tweet by a verified account on Twitter, emails are being circulated asking for consumers’ bank account details.
A group by the name Cyber Peace Corps, which is a coalition of citizens, volunteers, experts and volunteers working for the cause of cyber peace, has tweeted about an email scam wherein scammers are asking for consumers’ bank account details in the name of Jio GigaFiber or Jio DTH subscription.
An image, which states Jio GigaFiber activation request received with a click button that says subscribe now that leads users to a spam site asking for personal details. Users must be cautious of such sites, as Reliance Jio does not ask for users’ personal details like bank account numbers.
How to Invite Jio GigaFiber or Jio DTH?
The only way to subscribe to Jio GigaFiber (Now Jio Fiber) or Jio DTH is by sending an online request on the official Jio website. The website only asks for the user’s current location, full name, and mobile number through which an OTP will be generated to register the invite. After following these steps a Reliance Jio agent will get in touch with consumers. Suppose the Jio Fiber services are not available at a consumer’s location, the website states the same to the user upon adding his/her location on the website.
Reliance chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani has stated that henceforth users will not be charged any installation charges from 5 September onwards; however, the preview offer was available with a refundable security deposit of Rs 2,500 taken for the ONT device (JioFiber Router). This amount is collected through Debit card, Credit Card, Jio Money or PayTM, only.
The Jio GigaFiber or Jio DTH will be priced between Rs 700 and 10,000 per month, and users can also get a free 4K TV with annual subscription plans. Reliance Jio may soon start post-paid offers as well for consumers.
