Jio GigaFiber and Jio DTH launch on a commercial basis, which consumers have been waiting for ever since the services were announced last year, has been scheduled for the fifth of September 2019. As the commercial launch draws to a close, the ambiguity around what exactly will be offered to consumers also seems to be increasing.

While Reliance Industries’ chairman and managing director, Mukesh Ambani, announced in the 42nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) that Jio GigaFiber or Jio DTH subscribers will be getting a free 4K TV and free 4K Jio Set Top Box along with the services, not every consumer is entitled to this offer.

As per a notification available on the Reliance Jio social media handle, only consumers who opt for the annual plan or Jio Forever plans will get a full HD Television or a Home PC, as well as a Jio DTH 4k Set Top Box for free. This means that only consumers who opt to pay for the service for an entire year can avail of these offers for free.

While the Jio landline services or Jio Fixed Voice services have already started for consumers, Jio DTH or cable services will begin from 5 September onwards, which will be relayed with the help of existing local cable operators who are partners of Reliance Jio. Consumers apparently have the option to use the number provided by the Jio Fixed Voice services on their mobile handsets, according to a user. Jio DTH users will also get to watch movies on a first-day-first-show basis from mid-2020 onwards.

The Jio GigaFiber or Jio Fiber plans will be priced between Rs 700 and 10,000 per month, wherein the least speed that will be offered is 100Mbps. Voice calls, however, will be absolutely free. More details on the Jio welcome offer will only be revealed by next week.
