IIT Kharagpur Announces Free Online Course on Google Cloud Computing

IIT Kharagpur, in association with Google Cloud, is offering a free online course called “Google Cloud Computing Foundations” that can be completed in 8 weeks. The primary goal of the course is to offer an in-depth exploration of fundamental cloud concepts, significant aspects of big data, and the realm of machine learning. Additionally, the course delves into the intricacies of the Google Cloud Platform, elucidating its positioning and relevance. Integral to the course is the assimilation of these concepts, coupled with hands-on training facilitated through the Qwiklabs platform, fostering an environment for practical application and skill refinement.

The course will be conducted by Soumya K Ghosh, who is a professor with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, Jimmy Tran a Senior Program Manager within Google Cloud, and Sowmya Kannan is Global Lead for Google Cloud Learning in Higher Education among other faculty and engineers from Google Cloud. 

Who Can Take the IIT Kharagpur Free Online Course on Google Cloud Computing

The course is open to any interested student or professional from the computer science and engineering background with a basic understanding in the following topics:

• Have basic IT knowledge and be interested in learning more about Cloud and ML.
• Have competency in at least one language (such as Python, Java).
• Be familiar with the basics of shell scripting, SQL.

Important Details of the IIT Kharagpur Free Online Course

Interested candidates need to enrol on the SWAYAM NPTEL platform before 21 August 2023, and the course will be available on the platform from 21 August to 13 October 2023. Certificates may also be obtained upon successfully completing the course, and enrolling for and giving an examination that will be conducted on 23 October 2023.
