At its Bengaluru office, IBM has been formally launching its new Agentic AI Innovation Centre which is a major step towards development of agentic AI technologies in India. This center is set up as a collaborative center where partners, clients and startups obtain experience of building, refining and operating autonomous AI agents based on Small Language Models (SLMs). The center will develop next-generation AI solutions quickly through co-creation and rapid experimentation in order to expedite the process of their adoption.

IBM watsonx Orchestrate is the unified platform that is the key to the agentic AI strategy of the IBM company because of its ability to streamline the creation, implementation, and management of AI agents and assistants. That is the reason this innovative solution can help organisations to with ease incorporate autonomous agents into the established technological ecosystem, so the agents could act, improvise, and collaborate in real time to optimise workflows and improve productivity.

It is obvious that India is currently undergoing an Agentic AI revolution. Industry surveys conducted recently show that over 80 percent of Indian organisations are currently pursuing the development and implementation of autonomous AI agents, positioning the country at the forefront of adopting Agentic AI at the global scale. These smart agents are quickly changing business operations including but not limited to automation of work processes and facilitating the collaborations of multi-agents towards scaling complex goal-oriented outcomes that do not require continuous human attention.

A powerful and thriving developer ecosystem will be created by the Agentic AI Innovation Center, who organises hangouts, workshops, and AI Accelerator Days regularly, which motivates developers to learn constantly and work together. The center also enables the participants to personalise IBM AI experts to translate AI concepts into practical business results to drive the digital transformation process in the country much faster. Dinesh Nirmal, Senior Vice President, IBM Software, made this statement during the inauguration of IBM’s Agentic AI Innovation Center in Bengaluru “We are entering a new era of AI—one defined by intelligent agents that don’t just assist but act, adapt, and collaborate in real time. The IBM Agentic AI center brings this vision to life by urging local enterprises to evolve their AI strategy from reactive to proactive.”

A recent survey conducted by IBM with Oxford Economics painting a picture of global leaders of agentic AI found that business leaders in India are on the forefront as far as agentic AI adoption is concerned. 78 percent of the countries realise its potential in developing better decisions and inspiring staff to use autonomous AI tools, so India encourages the culture of innovation. On LinkedIn, AI strategist Dr. Priya Sharma posted “IBM’s Agentic AI Innovation Center arrives at a pivotal time for India, empowering enterprises with hands-on tools and governance frameworks needed to harness autonomous AI at scale.”

The Center can help address this as the Center is working to fill in the gap between experimentation and deployment with hands-on workshops, developer hangouts, and AI Accelerator Days. The objective of this practical learning is to accelerate AI adoption by clients, partners and the startup community with the help of the close relationship with IBM AI experts. It encourages industry-wide collaboration and has uses in areas such as public infrastructure/healthcare/education, and sustainability.
