The linkage of PAN with Aadhaar is crucial for various financial transactions and tax-related activities. This initiative ensures greater transparency and simplifies the tracking of individuals’ financial dealings. Along with that, it also aids in curbing tax evasion and fraudulent activities.

The deadline for linking PAN (Permanent Account Number) with Aadhaar expired on June 30 this year. Individuals who acquired their PAN cards before 1st July 2023 were required to manually link the two documents as per sub-section (2) of Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act. And, those who obtained PAN cards after this date experienced an automatic linkage with their Aadhaar.
