Sheela Foam was concerned about the non-work related surfing

and insufficient bandwidth. With high bandwidth consumption, even their email

server was not getting sufficient bandwidth. In addition, they had security

requirements like anti-virus and anti-spam. “We needed to control our

non-business surfing,” says Pertisth Mankotia, head-IT, Sheela Foam. “And we

had bandwidth issues too. But in the final run, we needed an integrated solution

that offered us complete security.”

Issue:

Security of network and low bandwidth

Reason: Insufficient bandwidth and security requirements like
anti-virus and anti-spam

Vendor/Solution: Cyberoam/ Integrated Solution

Benefits

  • Effective

protection against firewall, anti-virus and anti-spam

  • Bandwidth savings

Sheela Foam used Cyberoam's integrated solution for

firewall, anti-virus, anti-spam and content filtering protection, in addition to

bandwidth management for their granular controls. One more factor that helped

wasthe multiple link load balancing and gateway failover that helped Sheela Foam

make optimal use of its ISP links. Adds Mankotia, “the firewall, anti-virus

and anti-spam give us effective protection. We also use it for port routing.

Apart from this, we have effectively and easily implemented Internet access

policies because of Cyberoam.”

Once the decision to introduce Cyberoam was made, Sheela

Foam communicated the need to its employees through a letter. Groups were made

with different levels of access. The Premium Group, comprising the top

management that had 24-hour access to the net. Mid-level group had 8-hour

access, the lower level were given scheduled hours when they could access the

net. A further lower group was given just 1-2 hour access in a day.

Now, informing new recruits of Sleepwell's surfing policy

is part of their induction program. The policy details are available through the

company's ERP. “Plus, we have great bandwidth savings. We run our mail

server with 500 clients, b2b server with 20 clients as well as our concurrent

Internet access over ISP links that aggregate to 384 kbps. Earlier our Internet

downtime was 50%. With the multi-link manager on the same platform, we have 100%

uptime,” informs Mankotia.
