Women Safety App Leverages Friend Network to Prevent Another ' Uber'

After the much hyped Uber case in Delhi, many questions have been raised on women safety. People across the country have been showing concern and raising alarming questions on the safety of women traveling alone. Cabs, once considered as one of the safest travel options, are no longer on ‘travel-friendly list of commutation’ for the citizens of Delhi.

Bringing an innovative solution to this problem is a Delhi-based tech start-up Smartube Entertainment. The company has developed an app – ‘FrndiNeed’ which suggests people to travel with their friends all the time. And for doing this you don’t have to call every friend to ask for their location. The app intelligently locates the nearest friends to your location and allows you to chat with them or poke them to plan a ride together. So next time when you are alone, just open the app and go on a ride together with your friends. There is no need to get bored or feel alone and unsafe.

‘FrndiNeed’ is a socially-enabled app that helps in utilizing your geo-location to make every day travel smoother, safer, and economically viable. Pronounced as “Friend-in-Need”, this app lets you find your nearby friends and ask them for a lift, poke them for instant plans and meet up. Users can also use other features including packing planner and press the SOS tab for help in urgent situations.

You can now request a lift from within the network of FrndiNeed. All you need to do is locate your friend and call/text asking for a lift. After your friend accepts your request, the app would help you search for the route to reach your friend. The SOS alert is another very useful feature of this app where a SOS message is sent to the contacts on your emergency list while in distress for immediate help.

In the next phase of this app development, consumers can also plan a car pool for their daily commuting purposes. Car pool planner will be introduced in two phases. First phase will allow users to plan their car pool by putting their route map manually and sharing it with the Frndineed app friends. In the second phase, the car pool planner will do a predictive route mapping of the users, based on their travel in last one month and would automatically recommend users with similar route in the Frndineed friend network that their route and time of travel is same and they can together plan car pool.
