Eat, breathe code- that is the message Microsoft gave to the developers for its coding marathon event. Touted as India's largest code developer event, Microsoft kick started the 18 hour non-stop coding marathon in Bangalore today in a mega event that will show case the power of Windows 8.
Commenting on its soon to be commercially lunched Windows 8, Jon DeVaan, corporate vice president, Windows Development, Microsoft said, " Its path breaking and one of the most significant launches for Microsoft. It's beautiful, fast and its fluid interface seamlessly combine mobility, touch, connectivity, content,people,home and entertainment into one unified user experience".
One of the areas Microsoft wants to build the momentum well before the official launch of Windows 8 is to foster a developer eco-system well tuned to the new OS. And the India edition of the AppFest is a clear indication that
Microsoft's efforts to tap innovation from across the world. Commenting on the criticality of India, Bhaskar Pramanik, chairman, Microsoft India said, "We are working around with 1.2 million developers and 1000 ISV's and 2000 SIs and going all out in fostering our developer eco-system to greater heights. We are certain that this coding marathon we had started will certainly bring out the next big thing for Microsoft."
Microsoft with Windows 8 had jump started its developer programs in India well ahead of the actual commercial launch of the software and hopes it will be a roaring success. With this coding marathon, Microsft also aims to find a place in the Guinness World record for the World's largest app development marathon.
