Will ChatGPT know everything?

There was a time when Google knew everything. All you had to do was Google it and you voila! You had the answer. Power lay at the top of Google Search. To flourish in business, you had to be at the top of this search. To succeed in politics, you had to be at the top. To make your ideology more powerful, it had to be at the top. Google was endowed with a power that went beyond just search. It was the all-encompassing know it all, influence it all.

That image has taken a severe beating with ChatGPT, the new kid on the block. It has challenged the Google monopoly, whose search at one level was static for many years. ChatGPT has joined hands with Microsoft, Edge and Bing to give a fresh alternative.

ChatGPT promises to upend the AI game and change the very way we are going to do business. While search was in a comfort zone in your desktop-laptop-mobile browser, ChatGPT is coming out of it and entering multiple domains.

ChatGPT can be your life coach, research assistant and sounding board. It can help you translate, draft letters, resumes, complaints, make summaries, generate scripts and social media posts. You can do time pass by asking it questions from various domains, generate jokes and play games. It can even write basic code, debug it and help you with creating apps.

All this is in the personal domain. Wait for it to get into the corporate structure, decision making process and technology-business plans. That’s when the full power of ChatGPT will be unleashed. It won’t just be ChatGPT but all other AIs which are waiting in the wings. From the Internet economy we are now entering the AI economy.

It’s high time we started teaching AI in schools, so that AI becomes part of the thinking in colleges and finally becomes a seamless application at work, in the home and every facet of life.

There is talk of AI and ChatGPT replacing jobs and humans. But that has never happened. The agricultural revolution gave more time to mankind and we used that to ultimately create the industrial revolution which led to the Space Age, the Computer Age, the Internet Age etc.

The AI Age will free up our minds to create something we can’t even imagine.
