Why Infosys Fires Freshers Who Fail FA Exam?

Working in Infosys is the dream of several freshers who graduate every year from various streams such as computer science and computer applications. The company also hires freshers in large numbers several times a year. However, not a lot of people know that Infosys fires freshers who do not clear their assessment tests, and this can happen even after they are given an offer letter. This is the normal hiring process of the company, and not related to any economic slowdown or recession.

Why Infosys Fires Freshers Even After Giving Them Offer Letter?

The company, while providing offer letters, clearly mentions in its clauses that any fresher who is unable to clear the Infosys FA exam after two attempts at it will be liable to get terminated from the company. This is part of the company’s strategy to retain qualified and deserving employees and reduce its attrition rate. This practice has been in place reportedly from the year 2012. Selected freshers are usually given rigorous training at the Infosys Mysuru campus, and then expected to pass the Infosys FA exam.

What Is the Infosys FA Exam?

The FA in the Infosys FA exam stands for focal areas. The first focal area would be generic, and based on programming fundamentals, which would be same for everyone one. Post that, the other focal areas would be based on the position that the candidate is selected for such as database management, Java, NET and testing among others. The final focal test will be based on concepts that have already been covered in FA1, FA2 and FA3. Freshers can clear that focal exam by doing the following:

• Clearing the assignments handed over by the invigilators on the same day.
• Paying more attention to the hands-on projects that are given as part of the focal exam.
• Clearing doubts with the invigilators during the training period.

Freshers will have to obtain a minimum of 50 percent marks on every focal exam, and an aggregate of 60 percent on all focal exams combined to clear the Infosys FA exam.
