WhatsApp a well-known messaging app owned by Meta has recently introduced a new feature of short video messaging for both Android and iOS. The new feature allows users to send a short video message maximum of 60 seconds to their connections. This new messaging feature is an alternative to text and audio messages.

The feature is now available globally to users having iOS or Android. It allows them to create personalized video messages and send them to their contacts as an alternative to texts. The feature was unveiled by the CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg through a Facebook post, where he illustrated the feature through a short video demonstrating how WhatsApp users can seamlessly access it.

Whatsapp has also released comprehensive information regarding the feature through an official blog post. The post illustrates how users will be allowed to record their short yet personalized videos and convey their best wishes, news, and information. The company also claims that these video messages are secured and fully end-to-end encrypted.
The new video message feature is similar to the audio message one in which users were able to record their real-time audio and sent them as a message. Similarly, users can now record their real-time video and sent it as a message. For this, the audio recorder icon will be switched by the video recorder icon on the interface.

  • Download the latest version of WhatsApp from Google Play Store or App Store.
  • Tap on the right-corner mic icon to switch to video mode
  • Hold the icon to record the video
  • You will also have the option to swipe up and lock the recording
  • The recipient will receive the video on his chat
  • Initially, it will play without an audio
  • By tapping on the video recipient can enable the sound.
