Facebook-owned WhatsApp suffered a global outage. Many people reported that they couldn't use WhatsApp for 2 hours last night. However, the app has been fixed now and is working absolutely fine.
Whatsapp has not given any explanation for the app breakdown. Nowadays WhatsApp is the primary mode of communication and if the app stops working suddenly, it can create havoc for the users who are dependent on it. This is not the first time that the app saw such a breakdown. WhatsApp last experienced a major outage on New Year's Eve.
With WhatsApp not working, people took to platforms like Facebook and Twitter to vent out their anger with hashtags like- social media #whatsappoutage, #whatsappdown, #whatsappisdown.
During the outage, users were not able to send or receive any messages and were not able to make voice or video calls. According to outage-tracking website Down Detector, when few users tried opening the application it just showed connecting but did not connect.
According to reports, WhatsApp issued a statement acknowledging the problem but did not explain any cause behind the issue. "We are currently experiencing a service outage. Our team is working to restore service as soon as possible. We appreciate your patience," it said.
Recently, WhatApp has rolled-out a new software update which could be one of the reasons for the outage.
