WhatsApp down is now trending on Twitter as users have been facing difficulty in sending messages, photographs and videos on the popular free messaging site owned by Meta. Users claim to have started to face issues a few minutes ago, and the issue remained unresolved at the time this story was published. According to users, thousands of people seem to be affected throughout the world. However, this problem seems to have impacted only WhatsApp, and not other Meta owned platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

While the official statement on this issue is still awaited, thousands of users have taken to Twitter to state that they have been facing issues in operating the popular platform. At present. WhatsApp is reported to have more than 2 billion monthly active users globally, and is ranked among the most popular mobile messenger apps in the world. According to Statista, in April 2022, WhatsApp had approximately 2.44 billion unique active users worldwide, up 6.4 percent compared to the corresponding month in 2021. The platform hit two billion monthly active users in February 2022.

As of now, the popular site Down Detector has received over 25,000 reports of WhatsApp down and outage issues. The platform faced a similar issue at the same time around last year as well.
