To gain a competitive edge over competitors, it is important for any product company to spruce up its offerings. That was what Siemens PLM Software did when it announced the launch of the latest version of Teamcenter software - Teamcenter 9 in China recently.
Teamcenter 9 will exert a new influence in the PLM industry, since Siemens occupies a considerable share in the PLM market globally. While the adoption rate for PLM applications was seen as low in the global market last year, China and India, the two emerging countries, is where the company saw phenomenal growth.
In China, the annual sales of Siemens tools have been increasing at 100% y-o-y, said the company at the event. Siemens played host to as many as 1,000 people including the CIOs of many Chinese companies. Undoubtedly, it wanted to spread the word about its latest release Teamcenter 9. During the conference, KC Yee, senior vice president and managing director, Asia Pacific, Siemens PLM Software said, "Asia is now growing very rapidly and hence is an attractive destination for Siemens PLM. We've tried to make their job easier by adding further tools and enhancements in the new release."
At the event, Siemens PLM executives also elaborated on the sidelines of Teamcenter 9 and divulged details on the improvements it boasts of. As per Rohit Tangri, global head, Teamcenter Product Management & Marketing, Siemens PLM, "Teamcenter 9 delivers new solutions and enhancements across the portfolio in support of Siemens PLM Software's HD-PLM vision, which was established to help companies make better informed decisions more efficiently and with a higher level of confidence."
Giving the trends in the industry, the company believes there is more scope for PLM applications because the CIOs are steadily realizing their significance because of the involvement of complex product development environment. As Siemens said, "Teamcenter helps companies deliver increasingly complex products while maximizing productivity and streamlining global operations."
In addition, CIOs will be able to meet the productivity targets, since the enhancements across the entire Teamcenter portfolio boasts of improving productivity. "The Teamcenter 9 release adds a new integrated systems engineering solution and tightens the integration across the unified architecture so companies can make smarter decisions with better visibility into the impact of those decisions," adds Alain Iung, vice president of marketing, Asia Pacific, Siemens PLM.
As a method to realize such a system, KC Yee explained about the company's HD (High Definition)-PLM framework. The HD-PLM consists of (1) intellectually integrated information, (2) is a system that can be expanded in the future, helping the company scale up and (3) simplifies the user experience. Besides, the new release, claims the company, it includes a fully integrated approach to systems engineering and requirements management, content management, service lifecycle management, and process based user experience.
When asked whether the customers will have to pay or not in order to upgrade to Teamcenter 9, Tangri said, "Existing customers will not be charged for upgrading to the newer version but will be charged if they upgrade to an additional tool that comes in Teamcenter 9.
