What are the new features in the Y series of notebooks?
Lenovos new feature rich notebooks cater to the needs of the home as well as
SOHO customers in India. The new Lenovo Y300 and Y500 notebooks incorporate
biometric face recognition technology which is supported by Veriface software
that enhances data security and allows the notebooks to be used by multiple
users seamlessly. The Y500 has advanced Dolby Home Theater, a shuttle center for
easy navigation between features, a slot-in ODD and a TV tuner card that make it
useful for multimedia enthusiasts. In the event of an unauthorized attempt, the
notebook captures the users photo and stores the image for verification.
What are some of the marketing initiatives for the Y series
notebooks?
Given the segment of users targeted for the new range, we have been
conducting a number of pre-launch as well as post-launch promotion events for
customers as well as the channel. As part of the pre-launch activities we met
partners across different cities in the country and opened bookings for them
before launch.
As part of the second phase of this exercise we will now meet up
with partners across ten to fourteen cities that include metros, mini metros,
and other cities like Cochin and Chandigarh and share with them the benefits of
the new product range. We are also working on our advertisement as well as other
branding campaigns.
What kind of training would you provide your partners for the
new products?
Our regular training on Web casts and emails apart, we have begun a new
initiative whereby we hire activation managers to train and enable our
partners to help them sell out to their customers. Partners would be given
training in groups as well as at their retail outlets so that they can improvise
on their skill sets and increase their sellouts. We are doing everything from
providing demo units and hands-on training to planning full-scale partner
events.
