“We are convinced that if we are to play a meaningful role nationally, and in the community of nations, we must be second to none in the application of advanced technologies to the real problems of man and society” said Dr Vikram A Sarabhai, the legend who is widely referred to as the ‘Father of India’s Space Programme. And, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) seems to be following the same by launching mission after mission for the benefit of people. After the successful launch of GSAT-11 mission, ISRO is now onto its next mission and as always the viewers can watch the GSAT-7A launch live online.
The 26-hour countdown started at 2.10 pm (IST) today for the launch of communication satellite GSAT-7A on-board GSLV-F11 at Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota and the GSAT-7A launch time is at 4.10 pm (IST) on December 19.
As of now, as per ISRO updates, propellant filling process has been completed and the propellant filling of liquid strap-ons (L40) has also been completed. GSLV F-11 will place the 2250Kg GSAT-7A, which is a geostationary communication satellite of India, into a geosynchronous transfer orbit. GSLV-F11 is the seventh flight of GSLV Mk-II.
Apart from providing a variety of communication services, GSAT-7A is also apparently an advanced military communications satellite meant for the Indian Air Force. GSAT-7A will enable IAF to interlink different ground radar stations, ground airbase and Airborne early warning and control (AWACS) aircraft such as Beriev A-50 Phalcon and DRDO AEW&CS, says a report. This mission will be the last for this year from ISRO.
Where to Watch GSAT-7A Launch Live Online
