Veritas would not be in this list next year as it got acquired and has now
integrated into Symantec. However, in FY 2005, it was the number one storage
software vendor in India. Its e-mail archiving and backup solutions brought
through KVS acquisition, along with server provisioning and replication
software, helped Veritas reach this position. The Pune lab, boosted by a $50 mn
investment, became the company's largest R&D center globally. It was also
awarded a patent for FlashSnap, a product feature, in Veritas Storage
Foundation.
