For the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) recruitment exam-2023, over 90,000 individuals applied for 2,240 jobs as staff nurses. These positions include 171 staff nurses (male) and 2,069 staff nurses (female) to be filled in Uttar Pradesh's medical and health services department and medical education and training department.

According to senior officials of the Prayagraj-based UPPSC, on average, 40 people compete for each available position. On 21 August, the UPPSC published an advertisement for the staff nurse (male/female) recruitment examination in 2023.
UPPSC Recruitment Exam 2023: deadline for submitting online applications
The deadline for submitting online applications was set for 21 September but was extended to 29 September. To qualify, according to officials, candidates must appear in two stages of the test, the dates of which will be published soon by the commission.
According to UPPSC secretary Ashok Kumar, candidates would be shortlisted in the preliminary test to sit in the main examination 15 times the number of total vacant posts.
UPPSC Recruitment Exam 2023: Preliminary test
The two-hour preliminary test will consist of 170 objective-type questions for 85 points. There will be 30 general knowledge, 20 general Hindi, and 120 nursing questions. The three-hour main examination will have 85-point questions, according to officials.
The merit prepared based on total marks achieved by the candidates in the mains (written) examination and marks earned by the candidate as per the provision of the UP Government Nursing (Non-Gazetted) Service (Fourth Amendment) Rules-2016 would be used to make the selections.
The UPPSC stated in its notification that the requisition for the post of staff nurse (male/female) under the medical and health services department, UP, had not yet been received and that if such a requisition is received, the posts may be added to the total number of vacancies on offer.
UPPSC Recruitment Exam 2023: Pay Scale
The candidates would be chosen on a pay scale of 9,300-34,800, with a grade pay of 4,600 (updated pay scale level-7 pay matrix 44,900-1,42,400).
