Twitter Blue Tick has been removed for several celebrity Indian accounts that have still not opted to pay for the services. Elon Musk announced last year that users who wish to have a Blue Tick against their name will have to pay 8 dollars for it. As far as those who already have the tick are concerned, they will to pay 8 dollars a month if they wish to remain verified.
What is the Twitter Blue Tick?
The Blue Tick is a symbol that appears next to the username of a Twitter account. It indicates that the account has been verified by Twitter as being authentic and belonging to a public figure, celebrity, or brand. The blue tick is designed to help Twitter users distinguish between real accounts and fake or parody accounts.
To obtain the feature, Twitter users must apply for verification by submitting a request to Twitter. Twitter reviews each request on a case-by-case basis and considers a variety of factors, such as the account's completeness, activity, public interest, and adherence to Twitter's rules and policies. If Twitter approves the request, the account will receive the coveted tick.
It's worth noting that the blue tick does not necessarily indicate that Twitter endorses or supports the content of the account. It simply means that Twitter has verified the account's authenticity.
Who Has Lost Blue Tick?
As per reports, several famous Indian celebrities have lost their Blue Tick. Shridhar Vembu, Shahrukh Khan, and Virat Kohli among others have lost the coveted Tick. “Bye bye Blue Tick …. It was nice having you….my journey ..my conversations..my sharing…will continue with my people … you take care,” tweeted actor turned politician Prakash Raj.
“Who cares if you have a blue tick or not? How does it positively or negatively effect your day? It really shouldn’t! Be happy, be nice and don’t let something so silly annoy you for one second,” said Kevin Pietersen on the latest development.
Other Reasons for Losing the Tick
If a Twitter account that has been verified with the badge no longer meets Twitter's verification criteria, Twitter may remove the blue tick badge from the account. This could happen if the account holder changes their name, bio or profile image to misrepresent their identity, engages in abusive behavior or violates Twitter's rules and policies.
Twitter may also remove the badge if the account becomes inactive or if the account holder requests it to be removed. In the case of an account suspension, the blue tick badge will also be removed.
If a verified Twitter account loses its blue tick, the account holder will receive a notification from Twitter explaining the reason for the removal. The account holder can then take steps to meet Twitter's verification criteria and reapply for the blue tick badge.
