Translator app by Microsoft for smartphones and watches; translates 50 languages

Microsoft is in full swing to compete with Google. The tech giant has recently launched an app called translator. The translator supports smartphones, smartwatches, making your Android Wear device or Apple Watch more useful if you’re on the go. The translator app can be used on a wide variety of devices and supports 50 different languages. Microsoft has beaten Google to be first with a smartwatch version. Google’s Translate app, on the other hand, supports only 27 languages for text and voice conversion.

The watch app supports languages including Spanish, Thai, and Chinese. Pretty useful if you’re traveling and need to learn a few phrases. Many people have one question in mind that is it accurate? Users using this app says that it is good, very fast and pretty accurate. But yes, if you’re translating English to Thai, then it might take some time and at times show you some incorrect results. One can type or speak the word or phrase to be translated. In response, the app shows the translated text on the screen and then speaks it too.

Text can also be copy-pasted from and to other apps for translation.

The company also offers translation through its Skype Translator programme, which is soon due to become part of the Skype app itself.
