Notes On the Industry Summary Table
  • The category of servers includes x-86 and
    non x-86 servers. Non x-86 servers have been segmented into high-end and
    medium. The volume severs includes low-end x-86 and non x-86. x-86 servers
    are shipped with Windows NT, Novell NetWare, Linux or SCO Unix network
    operating systems.
  • Desktop PCs include desktops and network
    clients.
  • In printer/MFDs, laser MFD numbers are
    estimated by Dataquest; rest have been taken from IDC India
  • Storage peripherals include external HDDs,
    ODDs, flash drives, flash cards, digicams, and
  • The sub-classification within package
    software has been changed. The comparisons are with the corresponding
    figures in the last year. Others include middleware, productivity suites
    and engineering and design software, whose exact revenue figures are given
    in the segment write-up on business applications.
  • Security products have been classified for
    the first time.
  • Domestic services have been reclassified.
    So the comparison with the last year has been done only on the overall
    figure.
  • We have taken only the voice-based
    domestic BPO this year.
