What is your latest bet?

I am still working with many excellent companies like Socedo, GAEMS, and others; I’ve added a very interesting, hyper-growth company to my focus- TimeXtender Group, a Denmark and US-based company that is defining the Data Warehouse Automation Category (DWA).

Tell us more about this company and how it fits into the array of companies you advise

When I was at Microsoft, I worked largely in the marketing of Enterprise software; this is my background and my core professional strength and passion. TimeXtender is squarely in the Enterprise space, with over 2500 customers world-wide, producing solutions in the DWA space, Big Data, and even in the CFO space, basically promoting agility and the quick, smart use of data to drive the business. A seemingly “dry” category is actually very exciting and very intuitive.

You have told us several times before that you love working with certain types of entrepreneurs. Does TX’s CEO fit the bill?

The CEO, Heine Krog Iversen and his co-founder and EVP Anne Iversen are exactly the types of entrepreneurs and executives I like to work with. They have vision and courage and know what it takes to build a large company. Though the company is fairly small (though growing quickly), they are making bold and smart bets and have an innate desire to be a category-creating global player. They also understand the important of marketing, which is a marketer’s dream!

Romi, you have invested in India quite a bit and do a lot of work here; does TX have an India plan

Absolutely. Large Indian corporates are global companies in their own right and as they look for new avenues to expand and new vistas to conquer, they will need to utilize data in an agile and provocative fashion to win new markets. DWA solutions are ideal for these players and I expect a good business in India very soon. In fact, we are always on the look-out for VAR and implementation partners in India.

What’s your focus for the next 3 months?

Many of my portfolio companies are at inflection points, which his exciting; TimeXtender is one of them so concentrating on getting these bets right is my focus. I look forward to seeing these dreams to fruition.
