New Update

Could Infosys HR be a victim of its own success (read size and scale)? It's
too early to say, but at #4 in BES 2006 (down a rank from last year), Infosys'
single-largest challenge is handling the expectations of its 42,243 employees.
Infosys, as always, emerges the second-best employer on the HR scorecard.

Apart from the brand equity, an unchallenged territory for Infosys, some of
the other reasons that make it an all-time favorite are the learning culture in
the organization and the kind of exposure that employees get from projects.

To facilitate employee growth, Infosys focuses on strengthening domain and
technical competencies. As a role-based organization, HR has defined and mapped
various roles: a domain capability development model has been put in place that
is led by a domain competency group, which supports thought leadership, domain
enablement and creating innovation solutions to handle business problems. There
is a dedicated HR team for the different business units a well.

With increased stress levels, there is also high emphasis on improving
work-life balance. ONtime, a recent initiative, includes workshops, creative
publicity and external interventions. Sessions on time, stress and anger
management are some of the special initiatives taken by HR. Employee
expectations are also captured on a yearly basis through an internal survey
called Litmus. A major initiative taken last year under the Employee Engagement
Initiatives, under the Health Assessment Lifestyle Enrichment is a HALE Hotline
to address employee concerns and pain points. Consultants provide counseling to
Infoscions round the clock, 365-days a year. A HALE tool is an online
questionnaire that addresses the probable causes of stress-physical,
psychological, financial or social-and HR takes the relevant action to resolve
the crisis.
