Innovation is suddenly on everybody's mind. What are your
views on this topic?

Innovation is the job of every leader. A lot of leaders choose to
delegate it, thinking it is somebody else's job. The leaders in the
organization have to give time to innovation. People have innate fear of
failure. If people are going to fear, they are never going to get started. If
the leader of the organization has taken risk to circumvent the process and if
that works out, it becomes an example. Innovation also requires discipline and
we always tend to think that innovation always comes with the next big thing,
but it is not like that. We need to take a balanced approach toward innovation
for a better chance of success.

What are Symantec's enterprise security offerings?

Symantec's Enterprise security offerings range from everything from
endpoint security, which includes anti-virus, to information security, which is
moving beyond endpoint to data email, instant messaging and Web. An important
element is security management, which is looking across the enterprise at what
the security posture is. This takes care of incidents from the
vulnerability standpoint. Security management is an enterprise wide view of what
is going on. In addition to that, there are some mid market Windows products
which are volume-oriented.

What are the challenges in the endpoint security market?

The main challenge is providing an integrated product offering including
antivirus, firewall, intrusion prevention, device locking and network access
control. These are important for a single point management at the enterprise
end. We feel the administrators should be able to manage all kinds of security
in an integrated manner. We are also going to add Web security to that.
