The Indian IT User Industry Survey 2005

This annual survey seeks to assess IT usage among key

industry verticals and recognize leaders thereby, creating a benchmark within

verticals and the domestic user industry.

Percentages range between both

ends of the spectrum with few organizations exhibiting near 100% PC-

employee ratio and on the other hand SMEs typically exhibiting ratios

between 10-30%
Around 67% of the

organizations surveyed have more than 90% of their PCs connected to a LAN.

There are still organizations with less than 25% of PCs connected to LAN,

but are looking at graduating to full scale LAN infrastructure within few

years


  • 57% organizations have

    only 50% or less PCs connected to Internet-these represent the
    category who have yet to achieve familiarity with the Internet

  • 28% organizations have

    more than 90% of their PC connected to the Internet-these represent

    the category that have accepted and adopted Internet connectivity

    almost fully





On findings of whether respondents

have been able to trace the benefits of IT within their organizations
show:

  • Almost 85% of

    organizations believe that they have benefited

  • About 5% of

    organizations are still working on methodology to track returns on IT

    investments

  • About 9% see limited

    benefits and only 1% see no benefits

  • 75% of the respondents

    claimed to have traced the returns on investment made in IT

  • 50% of the respondents

    claiming that the returns have been below 75%

  • Findings indicate that

    currently, the industry is in an investment mode and the returns are

    expected in coming few years



  • 80% of the respondents

    feel they have been able to trace productivity enhancements within
    their organizations

  • 50-75% increase in

    productivity levels in most organizations

  • Only 40% of the

    respondents claim that they have seen significant results in

    productivity improvements

  • Only 65% of the

    respondents surveyed claimed that they have been able to trace

    customer satisfaction improvements

  • From among those who

    have tracked customer satisfaction have exhibited good results, as

    high as 54% of the respondents surveyed claimed that the impact on

    their customer satisfaction has been immense. They have even reported

    an increase of 75% or more in their customer satisfaction statistics
