However, despite all these updates and features, Whatsapp rival Telegram CEO, Pavel Durov, feels that using the Facebook-owned platform is dangerous. Through his official blog, Durov criticized the platform and also hinted that people should ideally delete it from their phones.

Here are the Reasons Why Telegram CEO thinks using WhatsApp is Dangerous

Pavel Durov, in his blog, highlighted the following reasons on why he thinks that using the Facebook-owned platform is dangerous:

  1. According to Durov, WhatsApp has a ‘backdoor' that allowed hackers to access all data on any phone running on the free messaging platform. He further claims that backdoors continue to exist on the platform and in the last year alone, 12 backdoors were found in in the app.
  2. According to a report on the Guardian, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos’s phone was hacked through a video sent on WhatsApp. Durov says that if the world's richest man’s phone can be hacked via WhatsApp then anyone's phone can be targeted.
  3. The United Nations now recommends its officials remove WhatsApp from their devices. Furthermore, people close to Donald Trump have also been advised to change their phones, according to media reports.
  4. Durov also adds that end-to-end encryption in WhatsApp doesn't guarantee absolute security, and claims that there are flaws in encryption implementation in the platform.

Durov also advised users to not get be fooled by “tech equivalent of circus magicians”. He also went on to claim in his blog that the statements made in his post are based on facts, and not personal preference. And, just like the code of the Telegram apps, these facts were verifiable and further supported by the third-party sources, he adds.
