Teething Troubles

New Update

On a closer look, one can gauge that the dip in Minacs revenue could be
termed as teething troubles. In fact, the company which now purports to be a
global BPO firm, paid the price for being truly global. Even as revenues from
the North American operations were falling, the company still had to maintain
its global presence, spread across seven countries. Minacs also has one of the
most lop-sided onshore:offshore ratio in the DQ list of 80:20. So, a global
crisis of this magnitude has far greater impact on a company like Minacs.

With more than 90% revenues coming from North America and 18% of that from
BFSI, Minacs was hurt badly. To add to the misery, the automotive industry also
underwent a crisis, which further accounts for substantial revenue share for the
company. In fact, crisis-laden GM was a major client for Minacs. The company is
now looking at diversifying into Europe and APAC, including Australia. In this
gloomy story, domestic is the most positive for Minacs as its revenues jumped by
over fifteen times and now accounts for over 15% of the revenue pie. Also, the
company has decided to leverage its parentage in a more focused way, and is now
putting in place a strategy on how to go about milking revenues from the $24 bn
Aditya Birla Group.

The year saw some old timerssome of them from the original Transworks team,
such as ops head Sharad Junghare and CIO N Gajapathyexiting. Industry veteran
Deepak Patel has come on board as the CEO and is now putting in place a team by
hiring industry veterans to lead different verticals.

Minacs is also looking at offering broad-based BPO services and has
amalgamated group company PSI Data within itself. It would be rebranded as
Minacs IT Service. Hopefully, in the coming year, Minacs will be able to post
much better growth and reclaim its position on the rankings. DQ
