In a challenging economic environment marked by a cautious approach to hiring, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), one of India's major IT services organisations, has underlined its commitment to hiring new talent. While IT firms such as Infosys have declared that they will not hire students, TCS COO N Ganapathy Subramaniam has claimed that the company is on track to hire a considerable number of campus recruits in the current fiscal year, intending to bring on board about 40,000 freshers. Here are the specifics.

TCS adds new employees each year

TCS adds between 35,000 and 40,000 new employees each year. Furthermore, Subramaniam stated that the corporation has no intentions for large-scale layoffs. While TCS is pushing ahead with new hires, some of its contemporaries in the IT sector are treading carefully when it comes to college recruitment. Infosys, for example, has taken a different attitude. In a recent earnings call, Infosys CFO Nilanjan Roy claimed that the business had hired 50,000 new employees the previous year and would only conduct campus hiring once demand circumstances improved.

TCS's hiring strategy will be closely tied to the forecast for discretionary spending

The organisation has taken a strategic approach to recruiting adapting to market conditions. TCS's utilisation rate is now about 85 percent, a slight decrease from the previous range of 87-90 percent.

TCS is well-prepared to meet any rise in demand due to its significant bench strength. Approximately 10% of TCS's 600,000-strong workforce, or around 60,000 people, is ready for deployment, having received the essential training and skills during the past year.
