Tata Infotech would probably not feature in this list next year following the
recent announcement of its merger into TCS. It now seems a little ironic since
FY 2005 was the turnaround year for the company (40% up in profits). The
architects of this turnaround were Charles Anthony, who was brought in from
Motorola US as the COO (he moved to TTSL), and Pauroos Karkaria, executive
director and CFO.

Revenue from SI services grew by 70% to reach Rs 815 crore. The domestic
drive came from the execution of Asia's largest NI project (broadband rollout
for a major telco) and the set-up of a nationwide messaging network for
Department of Defense. International growth came from the Canada subsidiary
Exegenix. The manufacturing segment grew 20% to reach Rs 130 crore-the Goa plant
was involved in contract manufacturing of ATMs, cash dispensers and bill payment
kiosks called Sevak.
