Integrated security appliances were the order of the day for Symantec-the
Symantec Gateway Server blended firewall, anti-virus, VPN and IDS. Anti-spam
solutions were the other focus area. Of Symantec's 50 partners in the country,
20 were totally dedicated to selling and deploying anti-spam solutions.
Symantec's India connections received further boost when it outsourced its
customer and technical support to India, hitherto being provided by Stream in
the US. The last quarter saw preparations for the integration with Veritas
(larger India operations) start in full swing.
