Redefined White-Collar Roles

Many people had a knee-jerk reaction to technology (particularly AI). However, while digitization has disrupted some white-collar employment, it has also provided new opportunities. According to a World Economic Forum report, AI and automation will reduce employment by 2025. It also underlines their ability to generate 97 million new job opportunities, notably in healthcare, education, and green energy industries.

Artificial intelligence is primarily reliant on data analysis and pattern identification. AI needs to improve in emotional intelligence, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving compared to human capabilities. As a result, many occupations today demand a combination of white-collar knowledge and digital literacy to achieve high-level strategic results.

E-Business and manufacturing

Personalisation engineers for creating and commanding AI-driven recommendation systems, supply chain automation specialists for optimising supply chain operations and inventory management, and automation technicians for troubleshooting automated manufacturing systems are all in high demand in e-commerce and manufacturing.

Furthermore, digital technology has given rise to positions in telemedicine, electronic health records, and health informatics. Using telemedicine platforms and AI-assisted technologies, healthcare providers are utilising technology for patient care, record-keeping, and remote drug consults. The demand for health data analysts is increasing, emphasising studying large amounts of information to improve patient care and clinical results.

These are just a few instances of the numerous professions digitization has created, bolstering white-collar jobs across various industries. As applicants traverse the digital boom, tech and soft skills will remain important in this changing landscape.
