After over a decade in the IT business, Chennai-based SSI seems to have lost its balance both in the IT education and on the software services front. First it sold its education division to Aptech and had a controlling stake in it. In December 2003, it proposed a merger of its software services entity with Scandent Group, a US-based company with Indian operations in

Bangalore. In the merged entity, both the companies will hold equal equity with projected revenues of $60 million and 1,100 employees.
