RRB NTPC 2020 exam date has finally been announced by the Railway Recruitment Board. While candidates had filled forms for the exams almost a year and a half ago, exam dates had not been announced by the Government of India. Indian Railways is now going to start computer based tests for the notified vacancies from 15 December 2020.
Indian Railways had announced the following three types of vacancies:
- 35208 RRB NTPC vacancies for non-technical popular categories like guards, office clerks, commercial clerks, and so on.
- 1663 for isolated and ministerial categories (steno and Teaches among others).
- 103769 for Level 1 vacancies (track maintainers, pointsman, and so on).
For the 1.40 lakh RRB NTPC vacancies that Indian Railways had announced, RRBs had received over 2.40 crore applications. Indian railways says that the Computer Based Test (CBT) for above vacancies had to be deferred due to Covid-19 pandemic and resultant lockdown, which was imposed throughout country.
“RRBs of Railways are committed to hold the CBT for all the notified vacancies and have been actively assessing the ground situation imposed due to pandemic. Now that experience of conduct examination for the JEE for IITs and NEET is there, it was felt that Railways too can start the process which had to be stopped due to Covid pandemic,” said a statement from the Indian Railways. The Standard Operating Procedures to conduct the exams are being prepared,
Several examinees had been asking the government as to why there was a delay in announcing RRB NTPC 2020 exam date and Group D exams while JEE Mains and NEET 2020 are being conducted. Earlier today, an initiative called 5Baje5Minute was also organized by students to garner the attention of authorities.
