New Update
MEIZU m note

Recently we saw a new entry by another Chinese smartphone player – Meizu – into the Indian market in the smartphone domain. The company rolled out Meizu m2 note in India at a price point of Rs 9999. Dataquest got a chance to review the handset and test its features on various parameters. During the review process we discovered many things about the Meizu m2 note and compared the smartphone with popular counterparts such as Asus, Xiomi and Gionee, among other.

This is perhaps the first Android smartphone we found that does not even come with pre-loaded Google apps such as Gmail, Youtube and others. While it might look like a flaw, it is an advantage in the long-run since the apps you install from Google Play store can be easily moved to the external memories. Generally, preloaded apps do not allow you to move them to external memory when you need the internal memory for other apps.

The company says that the smartphone sports a customized version of Android called Flyme OS 4.5. It is based on Android 5.1. Undoubtedly the phone performs better when we compare with other phones in the same category.

Processor performance

If the company is to be believed, the m2 note sports 64-bit MT6753 octa-core processor. While the performance is claimed to be the best, it looks ordinary as we continue to install new apps on the phone. We witnessed slow movement when we tried to run several apps together. However, we did not face any challenges or annoying interruptions in the phone functioning. As a result we can say the phone comes with a good processor performance at this price point. The processor includes 1.3 GHz Cortex A53 cores and the Mali-T720 GPU.

With the a polycarbonate body covering the magnesium-alloy frame, mBack lets you to control the phone with just one hand. It is the cool side of the phone and proves to be a benefit while you are at work. We had no problem in handling the device at any point of the day. Plus, the phone is light in weight and does not seem like a weight in your pocket.

The phone is available in white, blue, gray and pink colors.

Life-like viewing experience

Perhaps, this is one of the best features of this phone. It offers you one of the best viewing experience even in the sun. We had no problem in viewing and using the phone in the sunlight. No other phones in this range offer you the viewing experience as this does. It deserves 4.5 points out of 5 for this feature. According to the company, Meizu m2 note has a 5.5-inch screen with the 1080P Full-HD resolution which looks natural and beautiful with its pixel density of 403 PPI. The GFF full lamination technology minimizes reflection and improves display quality.

Dual flash camera

The m2 note is equipped with a Samsung 13 megapixel CMOS camera, which gives you good picture performance. While the company claims that the dual-tone flash delivers an accurate white balance in low-light environments, we had a different experience. It comes with a good camera but does not impress us in the low-lighting. It also boasts to come equipped with the zero-delay shooting technology that captures every beautiful moment for you. The FotoNation beatifying system in the 5 megapixel front camera has been upgraded to accelerated to share consumer pictures easily.

The m2 note is available in 16 GB and 32 GB storage capacities. The phone supports both TD-LTE and FDD-LTE 4G, which means that users can switch between them without any limitation. Two Nano-SIM cards can be inserted into the m2 note’s single tray. The card tray supports microSD cards with a storage capacity of 160 GB maximum.

In nutshell, the m2 note is a good phone and outsmarts other counterparts in its category, especially with amazing features such as superior viewing experience in the sunlight.
