Remote Access Software is the Key Requirement in Current Cloud Economy: TeamViewer

In an interview with DataQuest, Mr Krunal Patel, Sales Head, India and South-Asia, TeamViewer, talks about how the remote access space has grown over the years, and what are the opportunities that lie ahead.

Q. How has the perception of remote access and collaboration platform space changed in the past few years?

A. Remote access and collaboration has been the key requirement in the current cloud economy. With the advent of networks and technologies including mobile and cloud, remote working has become necessity and not luxury. We see our application getting used in newer and variety of use cases than before in all the part of the world. Work from home, Home office, start ups, SOHO and freelancing are now the new trends in professional working and the best solutions to support this in secure and economic way is to have a remote support and access tool.

Q. Isn't cybersecurity a concern when it comes to remote access and collaboration platform?

A. All TeamViewer servers are housed in state-of-the-art data centers that are compliant with ISO 27001 and leverage multi-redundant carrier connections and redundant power supplies. TeamViewer traffic is secured using RSA public/private key exchange and AES (256-bit) session encryption. This technology is used in a comparable form for https/SSL and is considered completely safe by today’s standards. As the private key never leaves the client computer, this procedure ensures that interconnected computers—including the TeamViewer routing servers - cannot decipher the data stream. Not even TeamViewer, as the operators of the routing servers, can read the encrypted data traffic.

Q. How is remote access and collaboration platform space growing globally vs India. And where do the opportunities lie ahead?

A. The remote access management market is growing rapidly over 12-15% of CAGR. India has a faster growth and we are aiming for 100% yoy for TeamViewer application. New applications which are complementing the Remote access platforms are mote toward internet of thing and augment reality.
