In its first full year of operations, this 33.7% subsidiary of Wipro Ltd grew
28% to post a turnover of Rs 211 crore, while net profits grew 25% to Rs 4.7
crore. Dealing mostly in printers, the company was created in September 2000
when the peripherals division of Wipro Infotech was hived off into a separate
business. Before the end of this year, however, WeP is likely to undergo a brand
makeover in preparation for an IPO and is also likely to drop the 'Wipro'
from its name.
