SES grew by 6.5% to show revenues of Rs 253 crore, following a blazing
growth of 148% in the previous year. Bereft of demand in the market, the company
decided to use the slowdown to consolidate business. It tightened credit
policies to ensure cash inflows; it implemented an online ERP system; and even
in commodity products, it started looking for value-creation opportunities. With
the help of Intel, it assembled notebooks and white box servers. It also beefed
up support and services. Ultima Solutions, a 100% subsidiary of SES
Technologies, was scaled up to offer services to major vendors. Last, it spread
to cities like Chandigarh, Nasik and Visakhapatnam, which took resulted in the
topline growth of 6.5%. Intel continued to be the strong vendor, which brought
in 70% of the revenues. The company is now focusing on the fast-emerging retail
market in ‘B’ and ‘C’ class cities.
