The Oracle India development center grew by over 200% in the last financial
year and in this period, it synchronized its joint development work with the US
in order to achieve ‘two days per day’ productivity. The IDC contributes to
Oracle’s global Internet strategy by designing, developing and supporting
Web-based products, one of its key projects being the Oracle Database Appliance.
It is also involved in the product management, maintenance, documentation and
release of almost all Oracle products. IDC Bangalore works on Oracle’s
database, development tools and Web technologies, whereas the Hyderabad unit,
started in January 1999, is focussed on Oracle’s ERP products. Some key
projects under way at IDC include work on the Oracle 9i database and Database
Appliance, the E-business Suite and E-business Infrastructure technology, Oracle
Mobile, Oracle Portal, Discoverer, iLearning and the Oracle Student System.
