The most amazing growth story in narration for a company that shifted
into software services only in the year 1999–through the tough last year,
Digital Globalsoft kept growing off the charts, to show a final 80% jump in
revenues, compared to the software exports average of 21%. Net profits jumped
71% to Rs 93 crore and the company moved up 18 slots–from #64 in fiscal
2000-01 to #36 in fiscal 2001-02. Last year, Digital renamed itself Digital
GlobalSoft and began an aggressive march on non-Compaq customers. From 4% in
July 1999, it was receiving 24% of what it calls "non-Compaq dollars"
by the end of the financial year (it bought over two products from its erstwhile
parent). From two service lines in 1999, the company now has 16 different
service lines. Following HP’s worldwide merger with Compaq, Digital GlobalSoft
will now remain the only independently-listed subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard
anywhere in the world.
