At the beginning of FY10, almost 30% of CSCs global work was happening out
of India. It ended the year with 40% and is on track to end the next year with
50%. Its not just that CSC is undergoing a linear increase in its offshore
component, the company is also making India its global desktop at a strategic
level. The work done out of India was balanced between the US and Europe. After
its acquisition spree in the last two years, CSC focused more on non-linear
growth. RIM and FCS were key areas, but managed services was the biggest
contributor (accounting for almost 25% of its India work). The biggest deal
valued at $2.9 bn came from Zurich Financial Services Group, the largest ever
data center deal in the IT industry, and much of the work was happening out of
India. CSC focused on virtual desktops and cloud, by propagating security tools
within the cloud and emphasizing on cloud orchestration. Though there was some
downsizing in Europe and North America, there were no layoffs in India. However,
it received some bad press for allegedly exploiting Indian workers in Denmark, which the company has denied.
