The employees seemed to be fairly pleased on the salary front. The special
initiatives within the appraisal system too were appreciated. It was felt that
the appraisal system was transparent and the parameters well thought out and
relevant .
However, employees felt the companys infrastructure was an issue. Training
is another aspect where employees were not satisfied with the quality. With the
company now looking at newer verticals like storage and medical devices, in
which it has also launched some new products, training is something they cannot
ignore. Patni also needs to work on its image, job content, people and gender
inclusivity parameterswhere employees are not content.
Patni did focus on developing good quality trainers during the year. Earlier,
it had put a freeze on external lateral hiring to push homegrown managerial
talent. Patni had in the previous year introduced an open-door policy whereby
top management became more easily accessible. Now with Jeya Kumar (ex-MphasiS
CEO) at the helm and the company almost through with the transition period, next
year is likely to be better.
