Rank 12 -Delhi Technological University : From College to University

From a deemed college, Delhi College of Engineering became a full-fledged one
this year. It got a new name (Delhi Technology University) and a new brand (DelTech).
It celebrated attaining a new identity by creating twenty-five research
fellowships, adding four new undergraduate, and six new postgraduate coursesnanoscience,
microwave & optical communication, software engineering, information systems,
VLSI design, and power systems. DelTech also established an Innovation Fund
with Rs 10 lakh seed money; it introduced cash rewards of Rs 10,000 for each
semester topper in each discipline and another Rs 10,000 for faculty members who
published papers in reputed international journals. With an idea to promote
research driven innovations that impact the community, DelTech designed and
developed an automatic measuring and dispensing machine called Annapurna for
Delhi ration shops.

The university is yet to see the impact of these new measureshence its poor
showing on academic environment (#65) and infrastructure (#73) and average (#18)
on industry interface. The saving grace was a high #8 rank on placements.
Industry interface could improve further as DelTech has proposed a tie-up with
School of Business and Engineering Vaud (Heigh-VD), Switzerland. The partnership
aims to have short term collaboration on short-term students exchange program
under the name of Summer University, where forty students including Indian
students from DTU, Swiss, and US students would undertake a program together for
four weeks, one year at Heigh-VD, Switzerland and in the consecutive year at DTU.
In another tie up, DelTech entered an MoU with a network of seven French
engineering institutions, The Groupe Des Ecoles Des Mines (GEM), for providing
opportunities for global experience and facilitate advancement of knowledge in
the field of engineering.
