This indigenous peripherals
manufacturer recorded a turn-over of Rs 218 crore in fiscal 1999-00, a growth of
51% over the previous year. Of this, Rs 194 crore came from the domestic market.
Southern region contributed the most to the overall revenue–Rs 83 crore.
The company, which manufactured the MSP,
QX and HD series of dot-matrix printers (DMPs), sold about 125,746 DMPs in the
country at a value
of Rs 109 crore. With this, it regained its number-one status as a DMP vendor.
Through its exclusive partnership with Lexmark, TVSE also sold 20,053 inkjet and
525 laser printers of the Lexmark brand in the country. It also sold 237,358
keyboards and 42,829 uninterrupted power supply units (UPSs) in the domestic
market.
During
the last fiscal, the company’s research and development (R&D) team came
out with Indian language solutions for its range of peripheral products and
services. These included standardization of Tamil fontfaces. TVSE ran a series
of roadshows to display its language solutions
in order to ‘take IT to the heart of India.’ The event was covered in 16
cities across the country in the first leg, while another 40 were planned for
the following months. TVSE’s R&D team also worked on customizing products
in the areas of product development and re-engineering, product and system
design, and tool design and development for high-precision components.
TVSE’s channel grew substantially from 725 members to
1,500 in the last fiscal. The segmentation strategy for various market segments
such as home, the named accounts group and government tenders helped push more
products. The company also strengthened its contract manufacturing with IMV
Victron for joint engineering and development of new products and UPSs. DQ
