“Heard through media yesterday that the government has banned 118 more Chinese apps including PUBG Mobile, but it is still visible on Google Play Store for installation. PMO India it’s a request that the ban should not be mere words but it should be realistic,” says Prateek Gupta on Twitter.

“PUBG Mobile is still not banned! I played it just now,” says a gamer Manoj. “Only one map is banned from PUBG Mobile not the entire game,” says another gamer Shashank Kubal while stating that only PUBG Lite and PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik face the ban. However, it may take around a day or two for the ban to reflect.

In the meanwhile, the decision to ban PUBG Mobile is being appreciated by Indian technology experts. “Such bans amidst rising volatility in Indo - China relationships will prove to be beneficial for Indian tech entrepreneurs and soon we will see a surge in better India apps. This will ensure data security and protect user's privacy better than these Chinese applications. In the past few weeks after the initial ban on Chinese apps, we have seen that many Indian App developers wasted no time and have developed world-class applications. Indian-origin CEOs are ruling the world especially those serving in the technology industry. We can develop better applications and be Vocal for Local in technology development too,” said Kapil Jain, founder and MD of Graphitto Labs.

“This creates an additional opportunity for Indian entrepreneurs to fill into the gaps. We may not be best poised for a solution in some aspects but can definitely use the opportunity to gain that position, intelligence and consumer acceptance since the giants have been benched at least for the time being,” said Ankit Chaudhari, CEO and founder, Aiisma.
