The move is being well appreciated by several industry leaders who were advocating for these relaxations to facilitate a seamless work-from-home scenario to ensure employee safety. “Thank you to the government for their tremendous support on the new ways of working from day 1. This has helped tremendously in further elevating our standing and responsiveness globally,” said Rishad Premji, Chairman, Wipro.

“Our sincere thanks indeed. This kind of support is one of the key reasons Indian IT stands apart as a world leader in any environment,” said Keshav R Murugesh, Group CEO, WNS Global Services. “Once again a big thank you from the IT fraternity to DoT India, Ministry of Electronics and IT, and Ravi Shankar Prasad for extending the OSP relaxations. Great step to ensure business operates seamlessly in the current environment,” said CP Gurnani, managing director and chief executive officer, Tech Mahindra.

Due to the pandemic situation, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for IT and Telecom, had earlier extended relaxation in terms and conditions for virtual private network (VPN) until 31 July 2020 to enable work-from-home for IT professionals. “Thank u Ravi Shankar Prasad and Secretary Department of Telecommunications for your strong support for Indian IT. This will ensure business continuity n employee safety and also increase our talent pool to tier 2 n 3 cities,” said Debjani Ghosh, President, NASSCOM.
