Serial pioneer
Prem Shivdasani was one of the early pioneers of the Indian IT industry.
After his stint at IBM as the Industry Manager in Delhi, in 1978, Shivdasani
joined DCM DP and became its MD in 1980. During his tenure the company reached
dizzying heights and became India's #1 IT player in the early 80s.
Subsequently, he repeated this success as MD of ICIM, the company that was
ranked #1 in the first DQ Top 10 in 1983-84. He was the founder-president of
MAIT in 1983 as well as one of the co-founders of Nasscom in 1987. He passed
away in 1994 while serving as the president of Business India Information
Technology Ltd, but he left behind a legacy that would guide the industry in the
future too.
