POWERGRID, a ‘Maharatna’ Public Sector Enterprise functional under the Ministry of Power, Government of India is a prominent organization in the power transmission business. The body is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and controlling the complete Inter-State Transmission System.
POWERGRID has been playing a key role in transmitting electricity across India. To further enhance its capabilities, it is seeking bright and committed engineering graduates to join the organization as Engineer Trainees. Additionally, there are also vacancies for engineer trainees at the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL) which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of POWERGRID and is responsible for national functions related to the electricity transmission system.

What is the recruitment process?
The selection process for the vacancy of engineer trainees involves several stages which include
- Candidates must have qualified in the GATE 2023 exam and the marks secured in the GATE exam are normalized out of 100. The GATE score from 2022 or prior is not valid for this recruitment process.
- Candidates may undergo a Behavioral Assessment, the results of which are used during the interview.
- A group discussion will be conducted but it does not have any qualifying marks.
- Candidates will have to qualify in the Personal Interview and their qualifying percentage in the interview varies based on their category.
Note: After the candidates get shortlisted for Group Discussion and Personal Interview based on their GATE 2023 scores. The empanelment will be done on the basis of total vacancies and candidates’ preferences. Once the candidate is offered a position, they must undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Examination.
